Menlo School Clubs

Acapella Club is a place for anyone who enjoys singing and wants to be part of a group. We meet every Tuesday and sing all kinds of songs, from different genres and styles. We also get the chance to perform at school assemblies and other events. You don’t need to have any experience, and everyone is welcome!

The Anime Club is a welcoming community for students who enjoy anime and all things related to the medium. We watch and discuss anime together, share recommendations, explore different genres and series, and connect with fellow fans. We have yummy snacks and always make sure to keep up a good spirit in our meetings. Whether you’re a longtime anime enthusiast or completely new to the genre, everyone is welcome!

Welcome to Menlo's Art Club! We create a space to create art that raises awareness important issues. We offer a chance to pursue passions for art through different projects and medias. We provide an opportunity to meet people, bond through art, and collaborate to create for a whole community (murals!). We also foster a welcoming environment to relax, draw, and have fun!

Beekeeping Club Menlo’s Beekeeping Club manages and cares for two fully functioning beehives, giving members hands-on experience in beekeeping and honey production. Members learn how to tend to the hives, harvest and process honey, create beeswax products, and participate in a student-led honey sale. We meet every Monday at the beekeeping shed.

Do you enjoy playing board games every now and then? If your answer is yes, we are proud to say, welcome to Boardgame Club! This club is about what YOU want to play. You can bring your own games in or suggest new ones! Stop by anytime to just have some fun or see what its all about! Feel free to come by solo, or with some friends! We’d love to have you :)

Come join Business Club on Wednesdays! We meet to break down stories in the business world, from headline-making deals to the collapses everyone's talking about. Members present on current events and we dig into what actually happened and why. We also run mini competitions like building the most profitable model or business on a limited budget, plus entrepreneurship challenges. No experience needed, just show up curious! There's donuts!

We meet once a week to learn and play chess. Anyone of any level is welcome to come and join us. We also participate in tournaments with other schools 4-5 times a year and other tournaments and volunteer opportunities are available as well.

Christian Club brings students together through weekly meetings, faith-based discussions, fellowship, and service opportunities. Members can learn from one another, participate in activities, and build meaningful connections with other students who share an interest in Christianity.

Curieus is an organization that spans across several high schools, including our Menlo chapter. The goal of volunteering with this club is to provide science opportunities to youth through teaching hands-on science lessons. If you volunteer with us, we are super flexible and allow you to show up whichever days you can, as long as you let us know prior to the Friday lesson. All materials and lesson plans are provided for you guys, so all you have to do is show up and teach. And bonus- you will be able to earn 0.5 CE credits per session you attend. This year, the Menlo Engineering Club will be continuing our F1 go-kart project from last year. Join us to learn engineering skills, get certified in the lab, and have a great time. We also facilitate personal projects for all grade levels. If you have a cool idea, join us and make it happen!

Join Fixit, a club focused on making broken items as good as new. Have broken items lying around your house? Bring them in and get expert advice on how to fix it. During meetings, you can either learn how to fix items that tend to break, or work on fixing your own broken items. Items from the community will be dropped off, so even if you have nothing broken, you can help a peer out by fixing their items! We will extend out to other communities such as Boys and Girls club, Menlo-atherton School, and Castilleja.

Formula 1 Club is a weekly discussion-based club for students interested in the world of Formula 1 racing. Every Friday before a Grand Prix, we will meet to discuss the upcoming race, make predictions about drivers and teams, and analyze recent developments in the championship. We will also include watching race highlights, discussing memorable moments, and reflecting on past races to better understand strategies, rivalries, and driver performances. The club is open to both longtime F1 fans and students who are new to the sport.

French Club explores the vibrant culture of Francophone countries through fashion, food, history, etc. We will have a variety of club activities, such as arts and crafts, making crêpes, and French movie meetings!

Come join us every Tuesday in the Menlo garden! We plant and harvest a variety of fruits, veggies, and flowers. Take care of the garden and pick food to eat and donate to Flik, Menlo's student-athletes, and more! Look out for CE Credit days.

Happiness Club is centered around community and joy. During different holidays, we plan unique decorations and events such as a tree of gratitude made from turkey hands during Thanksgiving, BOOing the classrooms during Halloween, spreading eggs during Easter, and many more! Besides holidays we focus on bringing grades together and creating a space to relax and have fun: we enjoy cookie-decorating, slime-making, and poster-creating! Come to A150 every other Wednesday to be happy and eat lots of snacks! Anyone is welcome!

History Club is a space for students to explore the past beyond the classroom and connect it to the present in engaging, interactive ways. We meet on Thursdays in Room A-246 to build community and interest through discussions, videos, games, and guest speakers. Our goal is to make history come alive by diving into topics that members are passionate about—from world-changing events to overlooked stories. If you also plan to participate in History Competitions, particularly National History Day, come talk to us! We also are open to helping with any history assignments, if needed. We look forward to seeing you!

Homework Club meets *after school 3:30-4:30* nearly every Wednesday in the Library Classroom! Come get work done alongside peers and supportive adults—whether you need a quiet place to focus, help from a peer, extra academic support, or simply time to get organized. Snacks, prizes, and a welcoming community included! Make sure you join to receive updates about fun events and seasonal activities.

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by several federal and state agencies such as the US Department of Education. The organization works to educate middle school, high school, and adult students in healthcare career opportunities. At our branch at Menlo, we are subscribed to their list of club benefits, which include webinars, internship opportunities, and summer program information! We still maintain our own curriculum as a club though, and each quarter we pick a topic to learn about through discussions, guest speakers, and club activities. We also play a large role in planning the Innovations in Medical Technology (IMT) conference in Winter, where you can gain CE credits for attending!

We are the Menlo chapter of IGNITE, a national nonpartisan nonprofit that empowers young women to use their political power and influence policies that affect their communities. We have current events discussions on the loop with Trader Joes snacks. Come with your friends to have fun chats about current events like politics and global trends while eating snacks!

The Junior Classical League (JCL) is a national student organization dedicated to encouraging an interest in and appreciation of classical languages, literature, and ancient Roman culture.

Welcome to Menlo LitMag! Here, we share creativity and practice writing using prompts! This is a safe space for anyone to share anything that they have been creating, such as poems, creative writing, essays, songs, artwork, and more! We will host Open Mics throughout the school year, too, so that members and non-members can share their works with the broader Menlo School community. By the end of the year, we will review all submissions to the LitMag together and design the literary magazine.

Machine Learning Club is a hands-on club where students learn how to build and apply machine learning models to real datasets. Members will learn Python, explore tools like Scikit-learn, and gradually progress from building their first models to competing in Kaggle machine learning competitions. No prior programming experience is required.

This club explores the hidden world of microplastics and their impact on our everyday lives. From the clothes we wear to the food we eat, microplastics are everywhere — but often go unnoticed. Through discussions, hands-on activities, experiments, and awareness projects, we aim to better understand where microplastics come from, how they affect human health and the environment, and what practical steps we can take to reduce their presence. Welcome to Menlo Mock Trial, Menlo's winningest team! We compete in realistic, mock criminal trials each year against other high schools across the nation in a series of highly competitive tournaments, and we are one of the top mock trial teams both in California and throughout the country. Menlo has won titles at the local level (14/15 San Mateo County Champions), at the state level (3x State Champions), at the national level (4th place in 2014), and even at the world level (winning the Individual Mock Trial World Champion 2x)). MMT — both at the Varsity and Junior Varsity levels — is a highly competitive, educational and fun activity for students of all grades. The teams work with our dedicated coaching staff to improve their speaking, acting, writing skills over the course of their time at Menlo School. With over a decade of championship-caliber teams, MMT also has an extensive alumni network of supporters who are involved with the team throughout the year. Model United Nations is a global organization consisting of thousands of students. It is centered around conferences hosted by colleges and MUN organizations, where attendees participate in a simulation of an actual U.N. conference.

Past the Screen is a filmmaking club where students learn about filmmaking, collaborate on creative projects, and develop skills in camera work, screenwriting, directing, and editing. The club provides a casual space for students to create, watch, and discuss films while exploring filmmaking beyond the classroom.

All experience levels welcome!! As a club member, you'll learn finance and investing fundamentals and apply them through simulations, case studies, and current event analysis. This club is also a way to get involved with OneUp Finance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit teaching youth around the Bay Area the fundamentals of saving, budgeting, and investing. As a club member, you'll develop personal investing skills while getting involved with a nonprofit making financial literacy accessible. Whether you're starting from zero or already managing your own portfolio, this is your chance to learn real-world finance and contribute to our mission.

The Menlo Outdoor Club provides a unique opportunity to come learn every Monday about the outdoors and go on field trips around Northern California. Our meetings will consist of guest speakers, ranging from professional white water kayakers to Menlo alumni, videos about wilderness first aid, and planning future trips.

Outdoor Rec Club, the continuation of the Climbing Club, is a community for students interested in getting outside: hiking, climbing, camping, boating, and more. Each semester, we run a fully planned outdoor trip, leading members through the beautiful California landscape. Club members have the opportunity to plan routes for and climb the 15-foot, student-built bouldering wall in the Redwood Grove. Through our partnership with AllTrials, we'll interview speakers from the outdoor industry and do work for the popular hiking app. Club members will pick up important skills to make the most of navigating the outdoors safely.

A club where anyone who loves books, movies, or shows can come to discuss the on-screen adaptations of their favorite novels, and how they compare. It will be filled with occasional banter, hot takes, and even some snacks!

Hoping to build public speaking skills, learn more about the world, or win arguments wherever you go? Welcome to Menlo Parliamentary Debate! It’s fast, a little chaotic, and easily the best way to get comfortable speaking in front of a room without relying on a script. You'll learn how to think on your feet, structure a strong argument on the fly, and back up teammates when the pressure is on. Plus, we attend inter-school tournaments throughout the year all around the Bay Area, California, and even the country, which is a great way to compete, rack up awards, and meet people from other schools. If you've never debated before, don't worry about it—no experience is necessary! Most of us started from scratch, too. The Pediatrics Club will focus solely on the pediatric field, giving students an in-depth look at what pediatricians are commonly exposed to in their daily practice. We will dive deeply into conditions frequently seen during adolescence, such as mental health challenges, chronic illnesses, and developmental concerns, while also examining how social, environmental, and family factors influence pediatric care.

Philanthropy Club invites students to advocate and fundraise for causes that they are passionate about. We meet once a week on Tuesdays in room 142 to discuss issues we care about on local and global scales, and find ways that we can give the resources needed to help organizations combat these issues, such as through bake sales and drives. There will be snacks!

In Philosophy Club, we’ll be debating and discussing philosophy topics as well as specific ethical issues, reading short texts on ethics and philosophy, and considering large questions of morality and justice together. No prior experience required, just come with an open mind and be ready to discuss!

Interested in physics, STEM, and competing in Physics Olympiads? This club is the perfect place for you! Through Physics Olympiad Club, we will cover challenging physics concepts and problems to best prepare you for these competitions. You will be able to explore and learn about the complex processes that shape our universe in a collaborative and engaging environment. We will meet every Monday during lunch in room A109, and snacks will be provided!

At Pickleball Club everyone can learn to play pickleball, have competitive point play, and most importantly have fun!

Official Chapter of Project Reboot, an organization founded by Berkley Researcher Dino Ambrosi. Discuss our relationships with our devices and how to better manage these relationships. Activities range from icebreakers to positive content recommendations to fun games regarding screens.

At Red Cross Club, we strive to make a difference in our community through action and compassion. Join us in organizing fundraisers to support disaster relief efforts, host blood drives to help save lives, and attend medical and leadership conferences to deepen our understanding of public health and humanitarian service. Through every event, we work together to uphold the Red Cross mission--helping those in need, promoting preparedness, and inspiring others to do the same.

We meet weekly to design, build, and program robots. We enter competitions throughout the year and take on projects that solve real-world problems. Anyone of any experience level is welcome, and members can also work on their own robot builds.

Sports Management Club is about learning how the sports industry actually works. We’ll talk about things like how teams make money, sports marketing, sponsorships, media, NIL, sports careers, and more. We’ll also look at real sports-business situations and develop our own solutions, ideas, and strategies.

STAR is a student organization that aims to foster interest in STEM among female identifying students at Menlo. Run by a group of female high school students, the STAR leadership team works alongside STEM faculty to introduce both middle school and high school girls to the vast expanse of STEM opportunities available at Menlo.

Our club is called STEMers. We wish to teach our members about small or big STEM nonprofits and show how they can give back to the community by learning and working with these programs. If you enjoy STEM and helping your community, join STEMers!

Everything math and problem-solving! We meet every other Tuesdays and Thursdays in B102 to provide math peer tutoring, participate in math competitions, and solve fun math problems.

Trivia Club is a community comprised of those who revel in the acquisition and appreciation of all facets of knowledge, from the extremely academic to the utterly trivial. We field questions and compete against each other during club meetings, but also against other schools in whole-day Quiz Bowl tournaments several times per year. Some come for fun; others for enlightenment; everyone for camaraderie. Come join us!

Vibe Coding Club meets every Tuesday at lunch in A218. You describe what you want in plain English, build it with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Gemini, and keep iterating until it runs. No coding experience required, and no prerequisites: if you have never written a line of code, you can still leave your first meeting with something that actually works. Every meeting is one of two kinds, so you always know what you are walking into. TALK DAYS are guest speakers, live demos, and short lessons: engineers from GitHub, professionals showing how they really use AI in their jobs, and Menlo students presenting projects they built themselves. WORK DAYS are open build time: bring a project, get unstuck, show off what you made during the week, or just come eat lunch and talk about what is new in AI. We announce the next talk day at the end of every meeting, and we keep spare laptops on hand so you can show up empty-handed. Coming up this year: a hackathon open to the entire school, a collaborative club website that every member gets commit access to, a GitHub workshop on branches and pull requests, monthly student speakers, and a planned trip to GitHub's San Francisco headquarters. Members build for their own interests: a stats tracker for a team, a study tool, a speech therapy app, a music trivia game. Come build something you actually want to exist.

Our club meets every other week in the student center to play video games together. The game changes every meeting depending on what people are in the mood for, from party games and fighting games. There is no skill requirement and no need to commit to every meeting. All you need to do is show up, play, and have fun.
